I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks – it’s not that I haven’t gotten out, it’s just that time of year where the birds are basically all expected breeding species, doing their thing, so there’s not as much excitement (at least not locally). Still, I’ve enjoyed getting out, taken some hikes, and continued atlasing in my priority block. I struggled last week to get many post-worthy photos, but I did a little bit better this week.

Great photos.
Thanks so much, Dan. Matt
Matt,
These shots are great, especially like the Least Bittern! John
Thanks John! I can remember going out the Bash and desperately trying to just catch a glimpse of a Least Bittern. You know, I never once did. I find it interesting that the same species will be more or less secretive in certain locations. In contrast to the Bashakill, if you go to DeKorte in Bergen County NJ, (at least in previous years, I haven’t been in a while), the Least Bitterns are extremely accommodating. Matt
Some fabulous shots here, Matt, especially the red winged blackbird, the least bittern, and the snapper!
Thanks so much Pop! Glad you are enjoying the blog. Matt
Great photos. Need a least and common gal yet HD a Kentucky warbler at Jockey Hollow yesterday.
