Indian Pipes – not a mushroom or any type of fungus. It’s a herbaceous plant that contains no chlorophyll. Needs very little light to grow. Use to see them all the time when I was younger, but not so much lately. Grows often from rotting logs, particularly Beech trees.

Thanks for the info, Nancy. I think I’ve only ever seen it twice now; I hope to see it again in the future. Matt
