I went to 6 1\/2 Station Road Sanctuary&#8217;s Citgo Pond several times; I have mostly been trying for shorebirds since conditions at the pond have been perfect. Although there has been good number of shorebirds present, the variety has been lacking: Least Sandpipers (30+), Semipalmated Sandpipers (2), Solitary Sandpipers (2), and Killdeer (12+).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7298\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7298\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/orangebirding.com\/?attachment_id=7298\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7298\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-7298\" src=\"https:\/\/orangebirding.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/071717-SESA-Edit-2-820x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orangebirding.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/071717-SESA-Edit-2-820x1024.jpg 820w, https:\/\/orangebirding.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/071717-SESA-Edit-2-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/orangebirding.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/071717-SESA-Edit-2-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/orangebirding.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/071717-SESA-Edit-2.jpg 1086w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7298\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">~One of the two Semipalmated Sandpipers that I&#8217;ve had at Citgo Pond this week, 07\/17\/17.~<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The trail and the pond have been birdy and I&#8217;ve been averaging 25-30 species of bird each visit, all expected species. Highlights include nine (!) Green Herons in a single visit. I also saw my first Blue-gray Gnatcatchers in ages and there are many young birds around (Song Sparrow, Eastern Kingbird, Marsh Wren, Common Yellowthroat, Tufted Titmouse&#8230;). So, while the birding has been decent, I am ready for some more significant shorebird movement, which hopefully isn&#8217;t too far away.
